Detroit Ruins:
Exploring the "Motor City"
While exploring the city of Detroit I could feel the emptiness and sadness of a forgotten city. The economic collapse of this place has no doubt left many scars. As I viewed the ins and outs of abandoned buildings, houses, churches and apartments, most of which had been burned down by the homeless seeking refuge and shelter from the elements, I couldn't help but absorb the energy of hopelessness. As I looked around at a once booming city that spewed nothing but hope, aspirations and future I am bewildered at what it has come to be. Now a barren wasteland that was built on a foundation that seemed solid the people have become somewhat like their environment shattered. The Motor City as it has been known is now a place of decay that echoes what it once was. The Ford buildings are hollowed out graveyards of what once was. Frame yard junk yards now remain as relics of a time passed. Memories that once brought hopes such as the many talents that came out of Detroit, like the famous Motown are only small reminders of the pieces of greatness that once was but now have come to be known as; The Ruins.
